The Gay
I thought this article might make some of the Hard Core Logo fans of my flist happy.

The Evil Overlord
Thanks to my lovely roommate, I've been working with two screens lately and enjoy it rather too much. Here are some articles for a second screen, without doubt sponsored by the screen industry. But who cares, of it helps you take over the world...

The Pretty
Then I found this article about BSG, in which Katee Sackhoff talks a bit about gay characters on the show. Not too exciting in my opinion, but it might interest you anyway (or you might know about it already, I have no idea what you people talk about in BSG fandom. I'm all about the pretty, so.)

The Time-wasting Fun
Don't come crying to me afterwards and complain that I didn't warn you about the brain-numbing time-eating experience this website provides.
It's all about cars... )

Well, that was a fun way to spend 7 minutes. What do I do know?

After showing a remarkable lack of self-restraint in the bookstore today, there was no money left to buy a DVD. So now I'm looking for a french copy of Amelie Poulain ("The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain"), or "Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain" in french. Does anyone know of any good french torrent sites (or happens to have a french copy of that movie lying around? The guy in the videostore just looked at me funny when I asked.
Today I learned that in Canada there is such a thing as a Moose License. That's what the paper called it.

I don't know what it is, but I want one. I imagine it'll allow you to bring your moose on a leash to restaurants and other public places, and - should I ever acquire a domesticated moose - that's what I'd want to do.

Unless it is a chain-smoking moose, of course, because of the "no smoking in public places" law that'll be starting in May. Chain-smoking mooshees have to stay at home, leash or no leash.

In other news, we went to Parc Omega this weekend, where you can feed Wapiti and other exciting canadian animals with carots while they lick and lovingly pet your (thank god rental) car. I enjoyed it very much. They also have bears and wolves and mounties. They won't let you feed those, but you can see them.

The same cannot be said about the moose, who were playing "Whose the best at imitating rocks" that day. Only treacherous flies and moving "(big! furry!) moose ears gave them away.

There's a moose somewhere in this picture... )
Somehow I thought there were no interesting new eps this week. I was right about no new NCIS, but according to TV Schedule I missed The Unit, Bones, Veronica Mars, Supernatural and Numb3rs. Great. Does anyone know of any copies of these eps that have been uploaded, so I won't have to use Bittorrent? Feel free to email me privately at oceana2602 @ gmail.com, if it's some kind of "secret" place that you are not supposed to share in public.

Had a great evening with the ever wonderful [livejournal.com profile] margueritem yesterday, after a bit diffiicult start, because I was tired, stressed and exhausted from working all day. They make me work. It's unbelievable. ;-) We went to see german short movies, some of them were quite good. If anyone knows what cow-tipping is, please raise your hand. If anyone has done it, please leave a full report in a comment.

The great defriending has gone amazingly well. Instead of defriending me in return, people are actually friending me. This makes me feel very bad about abandoning some of you, but as it has made my flist a bit more manageable, I am sorry to say that I have to stand by my decision. And I will not start adding people before I manage to answer comments, which I haven't done in four weeks or more. Sorry about that. Your comments always make me smile and feel good, but life in Canada is apparently so full of excitement that I can't reply. This would all be easier if I had an internet connection at work, where (with the exception of yesterday), I still mostly sit around and stare out of the window. (which, since I'm looking upon the St. Lorenz River from the 43rd floor, is not as bad as it sounds).

Now I will try to find episodes. Have a great weekend!

Am back from NYC. Bus was two hours late.
Very tired.
Will take shower now, check emails tomorrow.

Food.
Need food.
No, I haven't been run over by a car. I'm just never home anymore, that's why I don't update. I go out every single night, and going out here is so different from going out at home. No smoky bars that make my clothes smell, no people trying to get drunk, everyone seems to be nice and interesting(and from another country). But i met a true canadian on Wednesday! She was born here! (*feels special* ) *g*

I would love to talk about fannish things, but
a) there were no new episodes of any of the countless shows I watch this week (what's up with that?)
b) if there had been, I wouldn't have had time to watch them
c) if I had watched them, I wouldn't have had time to write about them
d) same goes for reading fannish things, watching other fannish things or even thinking about fannish things
f) or reading my flist. Are you guys okay? *hugs you all*

My birthday is coming up this sunday, and I have no idea what to do. The last time I celebrated my birthday was ten years ago, and I was trying to avoid it, but my roommates found out, so now I have to do something.
*sigh*
I'm sure I'll think of something until Sunday. It's still two days away, plenty of time, right? *g*

Anyway, I don't think anyone here would want to give me presents, what with me not being around much anymore. But if you ever wanted to give money to the wwf.org (no, this is not a wrestling organization), and you wouldn't mind making me happy for my birthday, that would make me happy.
(I feel weird writing this, but hey, other people beg shamelessly for paid accounts, I figure I can beg for a good cause).

Saturday it's OUT! (of Montreal). We'll rent a car and go somewhere nice and quiet. And maybe I'll even have a quiet eveing tonight, time to answer the rest of the lj comments in my inbox, read a bit of slash. Oh, I miss my slash. Was there anything good posted last week?
Today I was almost run over by a car and then called a "Fucking bitch" and other nice things that I don't care to repeat here. This is how is happened (and more complaints about the polite people In Montréal): )

*breathes*

I don't have prejudices, and I'm not naive. I know full well that Fraser and his politeness is not the real world. But I have never ever been in a place where people are so rude and brutal. In the shops? 1000 watt smiles. In restaurants, cafes? Nice, helpful, sympathic. Every canadian I have had any sort of social contact with, be it here on lj or in real life, has been perfectly nice, even wonderful (you guys on lj are). But I've been here two and half weeks now, and not one day has gone by without the majority of random strangers being grotesquely rude to me. And I'm not the only one, my roommates noticed the same thing. It's mentally and physically exhausting, so much so that I don't really feel like leaving the house anymore. I'm sick and tired of it and it makes me aggressive as hell.

So, let me say it again: What the fuck is wrong with people?
Today I walked out of the house and my iPod didn't work. It took me almost three minutes and a near heart attack from the resulting panic to figure out that I forgot to put the earplugs in. Clearly I should not be left unattended.

That said, here's my Valentine's flowers to my flist (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] bria_ferguson, but you are not allergic to pictures, right? *g*)

Flower Love )
*runs to computer*

Sorry, no time to read or post or comment anywhere. There is so much going on here that I am hardly ever inside the house. I haven't even had time to watch Stargate yet. Last week's stargate. That's how much time I don't have.

So let me just tell you quickly that I went to the biodome yesterday and met John and Rodney.

John and Rodney - love on artificial ice )

Off to see the wizard, have fun!

Dear Travel Agency Lady,

I have an easy name, really. It's not the most common name, so people often ask twice before they get it, but it is really not hard to spell. There are no alternative ways to spell it. If I wanted spelling mistakes on my ticket, don't you think i would have baought it via internet, dear travel agency lady? That way, I could have at least given myself a better name, like XENA or DANA or Mrs. Doggett or something that wouldn't have been quite as stupid, because then I'd have had time to think about it. And didn't I expressly mention that I did NOT want to set foot into the city EVER again, at least until christmas is over? Do you really think I want to come by to pick up my new and corrected ticket, that you WILL give me, because I'm not going to explain to every single LH person that I'm really the girl on the ticket, even if it doesn't say so on my passport.

Also, what's up with letting strange people pick up my ticket just like that? Okay, the strange person in question was my mother, but you couldn't possibly have known that. That way lies madness, and possible terrorist attacks.

No love,

Oceana

P.S.: Two suitcases, you said. 46 kilos, you said. If any of this isn't true, you'll personally swim to canada with my excess luggage on your head.
