What, no credits? I read about that, but I thought they were kidding. Sucks.

There was really really not enough Jack in it. Also, he and the not so good looking Baker Boy were drinking "Light beer".
*coughs*
Now, I'm all for not promoting alcohol use, really. I could happily live my life without any alcohol at all. But Light Beer? Excuse me? Wouldn't a simple american beer have been light enough for them? Why couldn't they just have given them a coke? Or maybe a glass of juice? Could someone please explain to me why they gave them light beer?

Hmm, I guess it was the same person who gave Aeryn the ridiculous leather thing she was wearing. Someone on the crew of Stargate has serious issues with dressing female guest stars. Not that I complain about the nice view on her breasts that we got, but still, the outfit was not only the ugliest thing I have ever seen, it was also one of the most ridiculous.

I also noticed that Jack looked particularly lickable in that chess playing scene, which was of course due to the many friendly filters which made him look all smooth and wrinkle free. But who cares.

Ben Browder.
*has dirty dirty thoughts*
I wasn't sure if he could pull it off at first. I needn't have worried, you just need to hand the man an air force uniform and nobody will care about his acting anymore. Not that there is any reason to avoid his acting, hs is incredible. Even in a show like Stargate, even in this really weak episode, weakest season opener ever in my opinion, he was just freaking unbelievable.

Take for example that scene in Daniel office, when they meet on base for the first time.

There we have Ben Browder, being Cameron Mitchell. There is absolutely no doubt about it. He isn't Crichton, doesn't even resemble him, and he already gives us a glimpse of Mitchell's character is going to be like. And then we have Michael Shanks, who is all "Shit, we are back from the sumemr break, and I don't remember what my character, that Daniel person, is supposed to be like. Oh, he is a scientist, let me be a bit distracted and not focus my eyes on anything, maybe no one will notice, and if I'm lucky, they'll put me in a tight shirt, then no one will care if I can act. And btw they made me grow a beard so they could tell me apart from the new guy, and I'm not sure if I look good, that's why I'm being so nervous and insecure in this episode."

Really, I like Michael Shanks like the next fangirl, and he is probably a wonderful person yada yada, but somewhere between season 7 and 8, he lost his ability to act. And now, with Ben Browder and Claudia Black on board, it becomes painfully obvious.

Not that I'd ever want to miss him, because seeing BB and MS together on screen like that?
*has dirty dirty thoughts*
I wouldn't mind however if they wrote Sam out of the series. Which is such a sad thing, because i've always been a Sam-girl, until they made her Super-Sam sometime in the middle of season 7. I feel so sorry for Amanda Tapping, because her character was so badly written last year. And it looks like they are going to comtinue it. The scene in the hospital for example: Daniel gets to say something personal. Jack gets to offer job opportunities and look more than sexy in his dress blues, which is okay for a general. And Sam? Gets to say that stupid, fake speech about the medal, shot from a very weird angle so we don't notice her breast too much. So sorry, Sam, but at the moment you'd be better off at Area 51.

The scene with the sword wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but in general, I felt cheated, because there was not enough story. Just old fight scenes over Antarctica. Considering that introduced Jonas in five minutes and re-introduced Daniel in even less time, they sure spend an awful lot of time trying to tell us who Cameron Mitchell is.

Oh, and before I forget?
Teal'c:
*hums "I am Henry the eigth I am*
*sings*
"I wear somebody else's hair, somebody's hair I wear, I wear!"

*snicker*

Now that we've been through the introductions, let's hope the season gets better.

P.S.: And boy, how pissed is Jack going to be when he finds out that Daniel stay? Here they were, Daniel had finally convinced Jack that he was missing the chance of his life if he didn't go to Atlantis, Jack had finally gotten over his jealousy issues, trusting Daniel not to sleep with Major Sheppard once he got there, and allowed him to go. The plan was for Daniel to go to Atlantis for a year, while Jack would go to Washington, because he didn't want to stay on base without Daniel and besides, Daniel wasn't very happy about the idea of Jack being in command of a certain Cameron Mitchell, and then they would finally retire together. And now Daniel misses his flight and get stuck in a cave with a space hooker and his very sexy almost twin?
Jack will so not be a happy camper once he finds out.

*peeks through fingers*
Is it over yet?

I had to stop that episode several times and run up and down the room to calm down a little. My poor heart can't take that kind of excitement anymore.
